A Legacy of Craftsmanship: The Story of Salam India
Our Roots (1991 – 1999)
The journey began in 1991, when Mr. Faridul Islam established Salam Carpets, driven by a passion for the intricate art of weaving that defines Bhadohi. His vision was simple: to take the soul of Indian craftsmanship and share it with the world.
In 1995, a new chapter began when Mr. Islam married Naghma Ansari. Together, they envisioned a business that blended traditional artistry with modern enterprise. This vision came to life in 1999 with the founding of Salam India, with Naghma Ansari taking the helm as Proprietor. Under her leadership, the company evolved into a premier export house, surviving global shifts and economic challenges through an unwavering commitment to quality.
Resilience & Growth
Our path hasn't always been easy. Like many, we faced significant hurdles during the global pandemic in 2021. However, the strength of our heritage and the loyalty of our global partners allowed us to emerge stronger, refining our processes and focusing on what we do best—creating "comfort under your feet."
The Next Generation (Floorings India 2023)
Today, Salam India is a true family legacy. In 2023, we expanded our horizons by launching Floorings India, a specialized partnership between Mr. Faridul Islam and his sons, Faiz Fareed and Anas Fareed.
While we grow, our core values remain unchanged. From the meticulous hand-knotting of wool to the sustainable production of jute and seagrass rugs, every piece tells a story of family, dedication, and the timeless art of Bhadohi.
